Bouillion Cubes

Excerpt from an AP Story 1/29/2009:
Elsewhere in the United States a woman froze to death in a remote cabin in Montana. Her common-law husband, suffering from hypothermia and starving, was found propped up against her body, with an array of weapons spread in a half circle in front of him, authorities said.
Mickey Charlene Davis, 67, had probably been dead for about two weeks when authorities reached the cabin Jan. 13, Powell County Sheriff Scott Howard said.
The man, 44-year-old Jack McWhorter, had only a few bouillon cubes in his pocket.

Rachel- Ok this is tragic, but would more bouillon cubes have saved this couple? Somehow I think that chicken soup wouldn't have made much of a difference. Also, if he had weapons, why couldn't he have used them to somehow start a fire?

Charee- It's just the one word that really bothers me: few. Why specify just a few bouillon cubes? As in, "If only he had many bouillon cubes, things would be different." Did I miss something important? Also, why are the weapons arranged in a half-circle? Why a half-circle? WTF Montana?
